Macsea adds remote capability to automated equipment health monitoring software.

Macsea has added a remote capability to its automated equipment health monitoring software.

This lets diagnostic equipment data be viewed from anywhere in the world, in real time.

The remote capability can be used for tele-maintenance of industrial equipment by technicians to improve uptime assurance, plant production and maintenance.

Accessible around the world over the internet or on a local intranet, Macsea's Dexter software collects information gathered from equipment, performs diagnostics, and delivers this information to wherever it is needed.

The added functionality means experts can have a virtual presence in any plant, anywhere and anytime, providing technical assistance and rapid resolution of problems.

It can assist in maintenance logistics, allowing engineers and operations staff to monitor equipment performance to identify key maintenance activities and plan remedial activities accordingly.

"We see remote monitoring playing an increasingly significant role in manufacturing," said Martin French, Vice President of Marketing.

Bandwidth requirements for Dexter's real-time monitoring is less than 5kbit/s.

This means standard dial-up connections can be used to provide live diagnostic data.
