Software compares measured data with CAD models
CADcompare 7.1 is the latest software solution for point-cloud-based computer-aided inspection.
The output of inspection results in DMIS format facilitates the integration of point cloud inspection within the existing quality control processes.
Focus Inspection offers feature and full part-to-CAD inspection starting from point cloud data or meshes captured by CMM-based or hand-held scanning solutions.
The software covers the complete process, from the pre-processing of the raw point cloud data, through the actual comparison of measured and nominal model, to the reporting of the final results.
It also offers extensive automation capabilities without the need for programming skills, making it ideally suited for industrial inspection tasks in automotive, aerospace and other manufacturing industries.
Focus Inspection 8.3 supports point clouds of up to 90 million points, sufficient to analyse large objects such as complete cars.
The user can also opt to speed up the part-to-CAD inspection further by converting the nominal CAD model into a more compact, but approximate mesh model.
This enables the user to select between maximum accuracy or maximum processing performance, depending on the application.
The powerful, intelligent algorithms reduce the number of user interactions to the absolute minimum, increasing inspection productivity, and making the results highly operator-independent.
The new automatic detection of features in the measured point cloud data is an example of this.
Gap and flush analysis has been optimised based on close co-operation with automotive OEM customers.
To get close correspondence with the many definitions of gap and flush measurements, digital calipers for use on scanned point cloud data are fully customisable starting from a set of generic templates.
Statistical analysis on multiple gap and flush measurements can be performed to get an overall view on assembly quality.
Many new enhancements have also been made within the software reporting function.
Feature comparisons can now be exported in DMIS format, a standard set out by the "Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium".
This enables further analysis of Focus Inspection results by dedicated SPC (statistical process control) packages enabling a smooth integration of point cloud inspection within the existing quality control process.
Focus Inspection 8.3 is available in English, German and French versions.
