Pair pool CAD and CAM expertise

A Micro Concepts product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 28, 2004

Micro Concepts has signed an alliance with ToolBox (UK) to provide manufacturing companies in SE England with more focused and closely integrated CAD/CAM solutions and consultancy services.

Micro Concepts has signed a CAD/CAM alliance with ToolBox (UK) to provide manufacturing companies in SE England with more focused and closely integrated computer aided design and manufacturing solutions and consultancy services.

The alliance is designed to enable the two companies, both Autodesk Authorised Resellers, to share knowledge in their specialised core areas of expertise.

Manufacturing companies that have a machining or specialised CAM requirement will have access to consultancy, technical expertise, support and training through ToolBox, whereas customers with a requirement to extend their ability to create, manage and share their design information, will be assisted by Micro Concepts.

The partnership will enable Cambridge-based Micro Concepts, one of Autodesk's leading resellers in the south of England, to focus on developing its CAD manufacturing solutions.

It will also allow it to develop further specialist applications and tools as a member of the Autodesk Developer Network and to further enhance its portfolio of third party software to support its customers.

Micro Concepts is already a certified Autodesk System Centre, an Approved Training Centre, and it sells and supports the full range of Autodesk 2D and 3D solutions, including Autodesk Inventor.

"Our focus in 2004 is to direct all of our resources on companies in the mechanical and manufacturing sectors", said Peter Hurst, Managing Director, Micro Concepts.

"This alliance will enable us to concentrate on our core strengths of helping our customers design better quality products and bring them to market faster by providing a more integrated end-to-end solution".

The alliance will allow ToolBox (UK) to concentrate on developing its CAM business as a CAM partner to Autodesk and as a distributor for Open Mind CAM products.

Customers of both companies that have a machining need will now have a dedicated resource at their disposal.

"Our CAM business is now by far the largest part of our operation and it is vital to focus our sales and technical resources on what is becoming a highly specialised area", said Steve DeBanks, Managing Director, ToolBox (UK).

"We have collaborated with Micro Concepts for many years and this partnership really formalises the arrangement and will ensure that our customers get a first class and well integrated CAD/CAM solution".

Autodesk is supporting the alliance.

"We encourage our resellers to offer focused and market centric solutions and provide third party products which span the complete product lifecycle from defining and designing a product through to pre and post manufacture", said Neil Dunsmuir, Manufacturing Solutions Marketing Manager, Autodesk.

"We welcome this kind of collaboration as it will ensure that Autodesk customers get an added value offering from our resellers".
