Interfocus has used Autodesk Inventor 3D design software in winning a major contact for a new student accommodation block at Cambridge University.
Working closely with leading Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions Provider, Micro Concepts, Interfocus has used Autodesk Inventor 3D design software in winning a major contact for a new student accommodation block at Cambridge University.
"The design called for some unique features, including a specialist seating layout for the kitchens," confirms Interfocus senior project manager, James Cannon.
"By using Inventor's 3D visualisation capability, we were able to include highly professional and realistic representations of our proposed concepts, which undoubtedly helped us in securing the project".
Specialist furniture manufacture, Interfocus has established an especially strong position in the office and education markets and has a successful 15-year relationship with Cambridge University.
The new contract, undertaken in conjunction with primary contractor, AMEC Construction, is for 52 student flats, together with ancillary kitchens, laundry, staff room and gardener's compound.
InterFocus has extensive experience working with Autodesk and Micro Concepts and Cannon believes that Inventor's integration with existing 2D plans provides ideal design continuity.
"At the same time, in a busy design studio its easy-to-use functionality enables us to produce high quality designs faster," he confirms.
"As a result, we can give clients a clear representation of what we are looking to achieve early on in the development process".
