Successful conference attracts best audience
This year's Altair technology conference attracted an audience of over 250 engineering professionals.
The new office will be headed up by Micro Concepts Managing Director, Peter Hurst.
Universal CAD will continue to be managed by Nick Lambden, but will focus on customers in the AEC industry.
Hurst says that the acquisition has been driven by the growing specialisation of CAD and engineering data management products - plus, the subsequent demand for expertise and in-depth market knowledge.
"Micro Concepts has been an established player in the manufacturing sector for over 18 years".
"It has a strong engineering background and a wealth of experience in data and document management, as well as the entire Autodesk manufacturing portfolio, including AutoCAD Electrical".
"This means we can offer former Universal customers, the in-depth expertise and guidance to enable them to maintain their competitive edge in the current robust conditions".
He adds that current Micro Concepts customers will benefit from an increase in staff numbers and the enhanced ability of the firm to invest in highly skilled personnel.
"Our long-term vision is to be the number one MCAD reseller in the UK.
In order to achieve this we need to grow our customer base and increase our geographical coverage".
"To ensure we continue to provide a high level of customer relationship, we also need to increase our staff numbers".
"The chance to acquire an ongoing business, with quality employees, in a region that we want to develop in, was a great opportunity", he concludes.
