DC gear motor accepts any 24VDC source

A Midwest Motion Products product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 29, 2009

Midwest Motion Products has announced the release of the model MMP-TM55-24V GP57-317 DC gear motor.

The gear motor accepts any 24VDC source, including battery power.

It measures 2.24in in diameter by 7.75in long and has a keyed output shaft of 12mm diameter by 25mm long.

Custom output shaft dimensions are available.

Easy mounting is accomplished with four 'face mount' M5 threaded holes, equally spaced on a 40mm diameter BC.

Gearhead efficiency of 90 per cent allows the output of this reversible gear motor to generate 410in/lb continuous torque, at 15rev/min, and up to 1,000in/lb peak.

Despite its compact size and weight of approximately 3lb, the gear motor has an energy efficient design, requiring 3.6A at 24VDC to generate its full-load torque.

This translates into long-life battery charge, quiet operation and reduced costs for drive electronics.

Motor windings for 12, 36, 48, 60 and 90V are also available.

This design is rated at an IP54 protection level for operation in harsh environments.

Variable speed can be accomplished with Midwest's fully compatible speed controls: model MMP 25A-24V or model MMP 20A-24V-RSP.

Samples are available from stock (in limited quantities) for rapid prototyping needs.

Typical options available from the company include servomotors with integral optical encoders, failsafe brakes, analogue tachometers, and planetary gearheads, with standard ratios ranging from 3:1 to 2653:1, and standard or low backlash precision gearing available.

Motor winding options include 12V, 36V, 48V, 60V and 90VDC.

The company offers a variety of standard ancillary equipment including DC power supplies, DC servomotors, PWM servo amplifiers, motor speed controls, linear actuators and a variety of DC gear motors.

Custom motor shaft and mounting configurations are also available.

Typical applications include battery operated motors and EV drives, medical, mobility/accessibility products, and robotics and automation.
