DC gearmotor develops 1,350lb/in torque at 10rpm

A Midwest Motion Products product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 30, 2009

Midwest Motion Products has announced the release of a DC gearmotor, model number MMP-D33-455B-12V GP81-308.

Accepting any 12V DC source, including battery power, this gearmotor measures 3.2in in diameter by 10in long, and has a keyed output shaft of 19mm diameter by 40mm long.

Mounting is accomplished with four face-mount M6 threaded holes, equally spaced on a 65mm Dia BC.

The output of this reversible gearmotor is rated for 1,350lb/in continuous torque at 10rpm and 2,124lb/in peak.

Despite its compact size and weight of approximately 12lb, Midwest said the gearmotor has an efficient design, requiring just 21A at 12V DC to generate its full load torque.

That translates into long life battery charge, very low-noise operation and lower-cost drive electronics.

Motor windings for 24V, 36V, 48V, 60V and 90V are available.

This design is rated at an IP 54 protection level for operation in harsh environments.

Variable speed can be accomplished using the company's fully compatible speed controls, model MMP 25A-12V or MMP 20A-12V-RSP.
