MMU launches Profibus training courses

Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) has launched certified Profibus and Profinet training modules.

The Department of Engineering and Technology Automation Systems Centre (ASCent), based at MMU, has announced three modules specifically for students looking to start a career in engineering.

As a fully accredited Profibus International Competence Centre, MMU is able to offer training in the necessary knowledge and skill sets to help students gain industry-recognised certification.

Through the training offered at MMU, students are able to take a number of exams covering theory and practical knowledge of these subjects.

Success in these tests leads to certification recognised by employers worldwide in industrial automation, process control or other fields such as energy and environmental management.

Three modules are currently offered.

Profibus Module 1 covers certified open PLC, certified Profibus installer and Profibus commissioning and maintenance.

This module provides total teaching, tutorial and assessment time of 42 hours over five days.

Profibus Module 2 covers certified open PLC, certified Profibus installer and certified Profibus engineer.

The module offers total teaching, tutorial and assessment time of 60 hours over eight days.

The Profinet Module covers certified open PLC and certified Profinet engineer.

It delivers total teaching, tutorial and assessment time of 50 hours over seven days.

Minimum entry requirement for the student modules are possession or expectation of a degree at 2:2 or higher in an automation, instrumentation, electrical, electronic, mechanical, microcomputer or networking discipline.

Certified Profibus engineers and installers have the right to be listed on the Profiitech pages of the Profibus International website.
