Extra durability for washdown scales and bases

Mettler Toledo has a new line of scales and bases designed to withstand the real world rigors of the harshest food manufacturing, chemical and other industrial environments, which are subject to high humidity and heavy washdown procedures.

From their hermetically sealed, stainless-steel load cells to their specially designed understructure, Mettler Toledo's Trimweigh III scales and WH bases set a new standard for durability, ease of use, and high performance weighing in heavy washdown environments.

The Trimweigh III scales are sold as complete scales with a base and terminal.

The WH bases are sold as bases only and can be used with a variety of Mettler Toledo terminals.

Constructed of 100% stainless steel, the new line of scales and bases resist the high humidity, steam, high-pressure hot water, and chemical foaming agents associated with intense washdown environments.

Their simple designs have no crooks or crevices where bacteria can hide.

The open construction of the scale bases' specially designed understructures allow for easy cleaning and full drainage, while solid base plates prevent much of the potential splash back of debris and washdown spray.

The base, whether as a stand-alone base or as part of a Trimweigh III scale, incorporates an innovative, hermetically sealed load cell for optimum performance and protection in the severest washdown environments.

The load cell's stainless-steel construction also offers protection against the harsh cleaning agents and corrosives frequently found in food preparation, chemical, and other industrial environments over and above what is offered by the aluminium load cells used in most scale bases.

In addition, the Trimweigh III scale's terminal snaps together, rather than using bolts and screws, and is sealed to IP69K.

For added protection, the terminal is equipped with "butterfly" latches to help prevent the ingress of water.

The cables for power and the load cell enter from the bottom of the enclosure to prevent water from running down the power cords into top-mounted cable glands and then onto the terminal - eventually causing components to fail due to water damage.

The power cable also uses a "pigtail" strain relief to protect against damage when the unit is plugged into awkwardly positioned power outlets.

Both the Trimweigh III scale and WH base are available in a variety of configurations to better meet customers' specific requirements.

Three base sizes are available: 9 x 9, 12 x 12 and 18 x 18in.

In addition, the scales and bases are available in five weighing capacities.

The Trimweigh III scale's terminal can be column-mounted or wall-mounted.

Two sizes columns are also available.

In addition, the Trimweigh III scale's terminal is available with a basic six-button keypad (ideal for use in portion control applications and for straight or over/under weighing) or with a full numeric keypad (making it an exceptional tool for checkweighing.) No matter what configuration is selected, the Trimweigh III scales and WH bases provide 150% overload protection with no effect on calibration and 300% overload with no physical damage.

The Trimweigh III scales' quick response and use of Mettler Toledo's exclusive TraxDSP vibration rejection allows for settling times of less than one second.

The scale's operator interface also makes using the product easy and intuitive to minimise operator training and potential for operator confusion.
