Mektron Systems Limited has launched a range of compact EMC turnkey powered system enclosures designed for VME applications and offering outstanding quality and versatility for horizontal load applications Completely assembled, harnessed and configured to customer requirements these enclosures form an ideal system packaging solution for development environments with considerable flexibility that will allow easy deployment into target applications

They have a highly effective and efficient thermal management system making them well suited for power hungry boards such as Power PC.

The MC Horizontal Series is suitable for 19" rack mounting or aesthetic desktop operation, it is DIN compatible and can house a range of high performance VME backplanes from 2- to 9-slot.

The enclosures are available in a number of practical height sizes from 3U to 5U and can even accommodate 160mm or 220mm deep Eurocards with 60mm or 100mm cardframe inset options as well as being "VME64 Extensions" compatible.

This range of enclosure systems has been designed to maximise configuration flexibility by adopting a flexible building block approach enabling a comprehensive array of application specific options to be incorporated.

The MC Horizontal Series can be tailored specifically to meet industry's wide ranging and demanding application requirements.

These enclosures can accommodate other Eurocard bus-based architecture systems including CompactPCI and Multibus II.

Additional flexibility is provided by a peripheral bay with facility for plug-in mass storage devices, either recessed or flush mounted, a front accessible fan tray, with re-usable air filter, and an EMC quick release closing front panel over the cardframe and peripheral areas that allows easy access.

The front panel is manufactured utilising Mektron's revolutionary 'crush-fold' technique for extremely effective EMC protection.

Various I/O arrangements can be incorporated including a modular panel for transitional boards along with standard I/O modules.

The rugged, double skinned enclosures are designed to exceed the EMC requirements of EN55022 and EN 50082, they are EMC tested and built to Safety Standard EN 60950 as well as having CE conformity.

These system enclosures are configurable with a wide range of AC or DC input power supplies, typically around 250/400 watts.

All power components are VDE, UL and CSA approved.
