Plastic fuel tanks avoid corrosion

A Meese Orbitron Dunne Co product story

One-piece plastic fuel tanks from Meese Orbitron Dunne are impervious to attack from salt water, fresh water, acids, solvents and other chemicals that cause steel tanks to deteriorate.

One-piece plastic fuel tanks from Meese Orbitron Dunne Company (MOD) are impervious to attack from salt water, fresh water, acids, solvents and other chemicals that cause steel tanks to deteriorate in marine environments.

Ideal for use in sailing boats, yachts, speedboats, jet skis and other waterborne vessels, the plastic tanks are virtually maintenance-free and are said to outlast not only traditional steel tanks, but also most boats themselves.

Rotomoulded into a single, uniform piece, the tanks replace the multiple fasteners, joints, seals, solders and welds that invite corrosion and weaken complex metal fuel tank assemblies.

The potential for hazardous leaks and spills is virtually eliminated.

The innovative tanks feature dual moulded-in bosses, which accommodate standard tubing for transporting fuel to the engine and for venting exhaust.

A moulded-in insert attaches directly to the fuel gauge to aid fill level accuracy.

By moulding-in these inserts during manufacturing, several components and assembly stages are eliminated, structural strength is increased and seal integrity is improved.

Engineered with a crosslinked polyethylene, the MOD tanks are designed to minimise fuel temperature fluctuations in a variety of severe, outdoor conditions.

Virtually stress-free, the MOD plastic tanks are designed to distort in high temperatures without rupturing or catching fire to reduce the risk of explosion and safeguard personnel and property.

Tank integrity is assured in temperatures ranging from -30 to +80C.

The MOD tanks are manufactured to meet or exceed the current standards as set forth by the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC).

The MOD tanks may be moulded in capacities ranging from 12 to 118gal and may be custom designed with MOD's in-house engineering staff to suit nearly any shape, configuration, capacity, or specification required.
