MTS has developed a new software package to support operating staff in achieving complex plant transitions Typical examples where the software, Startim, would be useful are in plant startups; grade changes or product turnaround in multiproduct flexible manufacturing systems

Previous applications have delivered two clear stages of improvement.

The first, results from introducing automation to co-ordinate the disparate activities carried out by the DCS and PLCs.

The second level of improvement results from the repeatability provided by this automation that allows further optimisation of the transition mechanisms.

Startim is available on most common platforms and can be interfaced with most DCS and PLC systems.

The package provides a fully configurable, interactive operator interface with a Gantt chart, trend charts, and individual task and progress information.

The system has a dedicated graphical configuration tool and is supported by a number of data viewing tools to ease commissioning.
