Moldflow is expanding its remit into data collection, process control and monitoring.

EZ-Track is a production monitoring and reporting system which is intended for use plant-wide.

Using serial connections, it can be attached to virtually any cyclic manufacturing equipment and machinery, such as ultrasonic welders, assembly machines and packaging equipment, as well as to injection moulding machines.

Each compact EZ-Track I/O unit interfaces directly to a single machine.

It is a small, self-contained instrument providing data acquisition, alarms and a full touch-screen user interface for manual entry and display.

Inputs using barcode scanners and magnetic stripe cards are also possible.

The EZ-Track system monitors machine status, downtime, scrap, raw material usage and labour activity.

It can also be used to track machine efficiencies and compute yield efficiencies.

Labour, time and attendance can be tracked by employee and associated with machines, jobs and activities.

In this way, manufacturing managers can determine the jobs, machines and activities, which require more labour.

This would then allow managers to investigate areas where more efficiency, possibly in the form of process automation, could be introduced into their manufacturing operations.

The EZ-Track system can also be used to count good parts, diverted parts or packed cases.

Downtime is measured automatically and can be classified into an unlimited number of causes.

Once production data is collected, there is an extensive set of Web- based reports that can incorporate trend charts, tabular reports, pie charts and Pareto charts.

Finally, it is possible to interface the EZ-Track system to ERP/MRP systems via an advanced SQL database that is open, fully documented and ODBC compliant.
