Version 3.0 of Moldflow Design Link (MDL) is now available.

Version 3.0 of Moldflow Design Link (MDL) is now available.

This software provides a geometry data translation interface from leading CAD systems to Moldflow's range of simulation products using standard file formats such as IGES and STEP.

A key new feature of the Moldflow Design Link allows users to read PTC's proprietary Pro/Engineer part files transparently into Moldflow's simulation products.

For the technically minded, this module is called MDL/Pro/Engineer and is based on the PTC Granite One interoperability kernel.

MDL 3.0 can be used to import CAD model geometry directly into both Moldflow Plastics Advisers 3.0 (MPA) and Moldflow Plastics Insight 5.0 (MPI).

This is the first time that MDL has been able to import NURBS geometry surfaces directly.

Imported geometry is now represented in the new MPI/Synergy pre- and post-processor as trimmed NURBS surfaces.

These surfaces can be independently viewed, grouped, or meshed.

NURBS surfaces are supported by the IGES, STEP, Parasolid and Pro/Engineer file formats.
