A Moldflow (Europe) product story

Moldflow Corp has acquired the ongoing operations of French production monitoring systems supplier Controle Processus Industriels (CPI).

Moldflow Corp has acquired the ongoing operations of French production monitoring systems supplier Controle Processus Industriels (CPI).

CPI is based just outside Paris in Dampmart and currently boasts more than 170 installations, principally in the French plastics, paper and printing sectors.

It has a strong customer base in injection moulding, automatic cutting and stamping and assembly.

Initially, Moldflow plans to continue to sell and support CPI's products in the French-speaking regions only.

In a second rollout phase, the company's most recent product, CPI2000, will be translated into English, rebranded and made available to other regions.

In addition, parts of the CPI technology may be transferred into other Moldflow manufacturing products.

CPI was founded in 1979 and delivered its first product, CPI70, in 1982.

In 1990, this was superceded by a second-generation product called CPI90.

A decade later, the current product, CPI2000, was rolled out.

This reflected the need to integrate shop floor production information into company-wide management information systems.

It uses a dedicated server connected by Ethernet to a network of PCs, with a web browser-based interface suitable for the Internet and company Intranet networks.

CPI2000 has modules covering scheduling, costing, quality control and statistical process control (SPC).

Current staff from CPI are to be added to the Moldflow technology development and customer service operation in Europe and will help to expand support capabilities for Moldflow's European customers.

The transaction was a cash deal valued at approximately US $800,000.
