Following the acquisition by Moldflow Corp of American MSI Corp of Moorpark, California, Altanium hot runner control systems are now available in the UK direct from Moldflow (Europe).

Altanium is a modular, small footprint, hot runner controller that can support from 1 to 384 zones.

The modular control units can be used free-standing, mounted on the mould or mounted alongside, behind or even inside the injection moulding machine.

The newest addition to the range is the Altanium C-Series, which provides unprecedented value for integrated, hot runner temperature control for two to 12 zones - the user can select phase angle or zero cross power control for existing and future low-mass nozzles.

The Altanium CM fits easily onto any hot runner mould system, saving floor space.

Attached directly to the mould junction box, it also eliminates the need for expensive power and thermocouple cables and leaves plenty of space for robots, optronics and hoses.

Altanium CF is a compact freestanding unit that uses the same basic form factor as the CM.

Typical costs for the Altanium CM are Eur 2700 for six zones and Eur 3550 for 12 zones with Neo operator interface.

Altanium features advanced auto-slaving, boost control, standby management, mould diagnostics and data collection.

It offers a high degree of temperature control accuracy for existing and future low-mass nozzles with user-selectable phase-angle or zero-cross power control per zone, state-of-the-art "Hall effect" current transducers and enhanced control software.

Altanium can be used with a variety of interchangeable operator interfaces, including the monochrome Neo touch screen (for up to 12 zones), the mid-range colour Delta2 (up to 48 zones), or the soon-to-be-released, high-end colour Matrix (up to 384 zones), featuring numerous temperature control, monitoring, alarm and diagnostics functions.

The Neo screen displays setpoint, actual temperature, power output, voltage, wattage, amperage, slaving and alarms for up to 12 control zones on a single page.

Bright and high contrast, it has a wide viewing angle, suitable for adverse lighting conditions and off-angle viewing.
