3D Systems has introduced its new OptiScan software module to reduce the build-time of laser sintered parts up to 34 per cent.

OptiScan software is a stand alone module designed to work with 3D Systems' proprietary Laser Sintering (LS) software.

This advanced package optimises the scanning process by combining cross-sections on each layer to reduce the time it takes to build a part.

Sinterstation HiQ customers with a 70 perc ent capacity utilisation reported an average of 565 hours of freed-up building capacity per year.

"At 3D Systems, our goal is to develop products and solutions that improve our customers' bottom line", said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems' President and Chief Executive Officer.

"We are very pleased that OptiScan software delivers an even more efficient and cost-effective operation to our customers, enabling them to build more parts faster, saving time, money and increasing capacity".

OptiScan software will be offered by 3D Systems to all Sinterstation HiQ and Sinterstation Pro customers who are under maintenance or warranty during the first quarter of 2007.
