Linux cluster rips through casting simulation
Teksid Aluminum, one of the world's largest casting groups, has moved to improve its casting process simulation capabilities with a Magmasoft cluster licence.
"This decision demonstrates the strongly grown confidence of PSA in Magma's products and services", says Dr Jorg C Sturm, Executive Manager of Magma.
"The successful usage of casting process simulation by the casting engineering team in Belchamps resulted in a steeply growing demand in MagmaSoft results at all PSA foundries, which can only be satisfied by the performance increase as provided through the cluster licences".
PSA has installed MagmaSoft modules for all main processes in use, ie die casting, permanent mould, low-pressure for nonferrous and sand casting for cast iron applications.
Additionally, Magmastress will be used on the two cluster machines looking into casting stresses and distortions.
MagmaSoft cluster will be fully integrated into the PSA IT environment, including remote licence management and job queuing.
