All-in-one Distribution Substation introduced
The new Metalclad Distribution Substation (MDS) from Schneider Electric comes complete with its own enclosure, bringing savings in time, money and workload.
This helps to cut training costs and to reduce network downtime by enabling a wider range of personnel to operate the equipment.
The safety of conventional DIN 43623 and IEC 60439-3 fuse rail and fuse switch disconnectors depends on the operator's skill.
If fuse links are inserted or withdrawn too slowly, the operator can be at risk from arcing during fault make, load break switching.
Even skilled operators often wear gloves and visors to prevent arcing burns.
Opus Excel eliminates this hazard by using an easily operated detachable, spring assisted switching mechanism that ensures the fuse can be inserted safely onto a fault or will safely break a load.
The fully interlocked mechanism is the only means of switching the fuse carrier to the 'on' or 'off' positions.
Opus also offers IP2X safety, protecting the operator from contact with live parts in all operating conditions.
Opus Excel is complemented by two other versions within the range, Opus Plus and Opus, for applications not needing the advanced protection of Excel versions.
Opus and Opus Plus can be easily upgraded to offer the increased safety of Opus Excel allowing users to meet more stringent safety regulations as they are introduced.
All Opus versions are available with 400A and 630A ratings, accepting size 2 and 3 fuselink, with single pole switching.
Opus Plus also offers three pole switching.
Opus can be supplied as a component, a low voltage assembly or as part of a package substation incorporating medium voltage, transformer and low voltage distribution products.
