Entec, whose head office is at Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, is one of the UK's largest environmental and engineering consultancies.

As part of the Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux group, the company undertakes a wide variety of projects across the UK and around the world.

These range from environmental appraisal, audit and risk management studies, right through to fully engineered plants and solutions for water, waste, chemical, pharmaceutical, industrial and infrastructure applications.

All organisations are under continual pressure to improve efficiency while maintaining or improving product quality, thereby reducing costs and maximising returns.

Many of the improvements are driven by the condition of existing assets and systems and the increasing need to maintain auditable records to satisfy the increase in official regulations.

Furthermore, mounting pressure from the public continues to keep environmental concerns high on the corporate agenda.

Entec's role is to help companies not only to manage their assets, processes, systems and environmental issues, but also to anticipate future changes in the business and regulatory environment and plan accordingly.

Mere compliance is no longer sufficient to maintain a competitive advantage.

The agreement between Mitsubishi Electric and Entec UK Ltd formalises the status of Entec as a Systems and Projects Integrator for the full range of Mitsubishi's automation and control products.

Automation solutions are a well proven route both to saving energy costs and to controlling and monitoring processes which have an impact on operations and the environment.

Signing the agreement for Entec, managing director Simon Armes-Reardon said "The alliance with Mitsubishi enhances Entec's capability to provide commercial, technically robust solutions in a marketplace which is becoming increasingly complex from a technological point of view".

According to Mitsubishi, the complementary skills and technology of the two companies will be of significant benefit to customers, enabling Entec and Mitsubishi to offer a seamless link from project conception to implementation in all aspects of plant, process control and communications.
