VSD leasing scheme pays for itself

A novel leasing scheme will allow industrial users to upgrade to energy-saving variable speed drives without making budgetary sacrifices.

As part of its policy to expand into energy savings sectors, now Mitsubishi's largest single customer base for variable speed drives (VSDs), the Melsmart Energy Centre has added a leasing option for the F540 VSD range.

This initiative is in response to many customers' comments that, although they recognise the benefits and cost saving possibilities of using VSDs, 'the budget just isn't there' to do anything about it.

According to Mitsubishi's Chris Cusick, the payment terms on a typical leased panel installation are often considerably less than the savings that can be made in a single month, so that, even though they have not bought the equipment outright, they can still be "ahead of the game" within 2-3 months, and improve their overall efficiency into the bargain.

"Many other assets like cars and buildings are leased as a matter of course - it just needs a change in attitude to see the potential of this idea".

"What makes this different from other leasing schemes is that it recognises the whole panel cost and even the cost of installation, and is not based simply on the cost of the drive itself ".

Other advantages include improved tax efficiency, not having to use up precious capital expenditure budget even where it is available, and having another line of credit other than from the bank.

The drive can be paid for out of revenue as it is used.

The leasing system is operated by Energy Centre partner Electric Leasing, and is available on all F540, F540-SA and F540L drives bought through any of Mitsubishi Electric's normal outlets.
