Thermistors have a wide range of applications and their low cost and interchangeability make them ideal for volume production.

Thermistors have a wide range of applications and their low cost and interchangeability make them ideal for volume production Here at Microtherm we can offer both PTC and NTC thermistors for wide range of applications

PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient): for motor protection, heat limiting and over current protection; mounting tabs are available for attaching to the heat source and tailor made to individual customers' requirements.

NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient): with a wide range of applications such as temperature measurement, liquid level sensing, surge protection etc., with match points between 20C to 37C, 0C to 70C and 25C to 100C and tolerances down to 0.25C; typical bead size of 0.095 inches with various packages including insulated leads at lengths to suit your requirements.

Medical Chip Thermistors are also available suitable for sensing body temperatures and often used in catheters because of their high accuracy without calibration.

These have housings of 0.078 inch diam (pvc cup) and leads of either AWG28 or AWG30 kynar insulated.

Mini's and micro types have diameters as small as 0.0185 inch small enough to fit inside a hypodermic needle! The Alpha range of mini and chip thermistors have a fast response lending them to a variety of medical applications but also to the food industry where temperature control and indication is of a critical importance.

Moxies: these are thermistors with a very narrow hysteresis making them ideally suitable for switching purposes such as closing a system down when temperatures are too high or giving warning indications.

Available in temperatures of 57C, 65C, 75C and 85C only.

Probe Thermistors: also offered in tailor made packages and further information on these is available from Microtherm engineers.
