Compared with everyday servomotors from other manufacturers, AKM motors pack considerably higher power output for a given frame size.

Compared with everyday servomotors from other manufacturers, AKM motors pack considerably higher power output for a given frame size They also have low-inertia rotors for high dynamic performance and exhibit extremely low cogging

Now available from Micromech, these new motors are manufactured by Danaher to be its flagship range throughout the world.

They can be supplied in seven flange sizes, standstill torques from 0.18 to 53Nm, with a large number of winding options together with optional feedback systems that provide maximum flexibility for machine design.

A variety of options usually means long deliveries; this is not the case with the AKM motors.

Due to a special production process the delivery of different frame lengths, winding versions, flange types (IEC-NEMA-JIS), various feedback systems and connection methods, can all be achieved in much shorter lead times.

The standard versions of these motors are fitted with two-pole hollow-shaft resolvers or can alternatively be fitted with additional feedback systems, such as: the Danaher Motion SFD smart feedback device; a high-resolution EnDat encoder; or a Comcoder (incremental encoder with commutation track).

The AKM motor case has an integrated front end bell which improves rigidity, strength, ensures motor alignment tolerances and means no seams to leak on the front mount interface.

The whole stator winding is potted and for safety the winding temperature is monitored and signalled by a PTC temperature sensor in the stator winding, vibration class ISO G6.3, insulation material is class F as per DIN 57530 and rated at 480V mains voltage (230V for AKM1x).

Hard wearing, they have a powder coat body, the standard motor protection is class IP 40 and they are UR recognised as well as CE approved.

Useful for installation, the mounting sockets for feedback and power connections can be swivelled.

Options include a holding brake (AKM2-7) and a Viton shaft seal to give an IP65 rating.

The AKM motor range sets a new standard in servomotors that are smaller, yet powerful and low priced.
