The PRA PowerRod actuator was developed for the use in industrial automation systems where different positions must be approached speedily and accurately.

The PRA PowerRod actuator from Micromech was developed for the use in industrial automation systems where different positions must be approached speedily and accurately Faster than a ballscrew and with the clean reliability of a linear motor, it is a cost-effective alternative to air cylinders in applications requiring greater flexibility and control

The PRA incorporates an IP67 rated forcer and a sealed stainless steel thrust rod enclosing rare-earth magnets.

There are four models that deliver a continuous force range of 51 to 102N with peak forces from 312 up to 780N.

A range of thrust rods is available for travel lengths from 12 to 309mm, with acceleration up to 586m/s2 and speeds up to 5.9m/s.

The integrated position feedback means no additional encoder is required and the position output used is in the form of industry standard 1V peak-peak sin/cos signals.

An internal dry bearing provides clean, quiet, maintenance-free performance and the integrated slide guide results in a service life is far longer than that of typical ballscrew solutions.

The large air gap makes alignment simple and all the devices have simple setup mounting arrangements that can be easily integrated into existing automation solutions.

The actuators have DIN standard mounting making them compatible with all industry fittings accepting a range of industry standard mounting accessories, including pneumatic actuators.

Reliable and cost-effective their high speed and acceleration make them ideal for push/pull/lift material handling, packaging and automated assembly applications.

They have the added benefit of being clean and quiet in operation due to the dry plastic bearing, which also means no lubrication and therefore no maintenance or adjustment is needed.
