Versatile drive expands existing Sinamics S120 into an integrated modular drive system for single- and multi-axis applications.

The new Siemens Sinamics S120 AC is not just a servo drive This versatile drive now available from Micromech expands the existing Sinamics S120 system into an integrated modular drives system for single-axis and multi-axis applications as it also encompasses convertors for high-performance single-axis applications

Depending on the system voltage, the Sinamics S120 AC servo drives are rated at 230V AC in the power range 0.12 to 0.75kW, and at 400V three phase in the power range 0.37 to 250kW.

The devices are available in block-style construction (0.12 to 90kW) or as chassis devices (110 to 250kW) according to the power rating.

The drives combine components for rectifier and power supply of the motor in one device, the power module - the PM340.

As a single-axis drive in combination with a higher-level controller, a control unit CU310 is plugged onto the power module.

This contains the entire closed-loop control intelligence, including the fieldbus interface and the positioning functions.

The control unit is available optionally with Profibus or Profinet interface.

The drive software is stored on a compact flash card and an optional, easy to use operator panel is available if required.

Within a drive solution along with other Sinamics S120 components, a control unit CUA31 adapter is plugged onto the power module.

In this way, the drive is connected to a higher-level control unit via a Drive-Cliq system interface.

The drives are used in all industry sectors, for example, in packaging, printing, centrifuges, elevators, extruders, mixers and kneaders.

Positioning tasks such as those found in automatic assembly machines and handling systems are also reliably solved.

Thanks to its modular design, the new drive type is equally suitable for multi-axis applications as it is for synchronous and motion control applications.

The configuration of these drives is supported by the clever Sizer dimensioning tool.

In addition the starter tool guarantees fast and safe startup of the Sinamics S120 AC servo drives.

Safety functions are integrated direct in the drive.
