Machine automates pharmaceutical
dispensing
A new dispensing machine had some tough design criteria to meet to become the fastest, most productive and accurate retail robotic dispensing system in the World.
The RDS (Robotic Dispensing System) was developed to automate dispensing pharmaceutical transactions with 100% accuracy at a rate of 150 plus transactions per hour The challenge facing the designers was to develop a unit which was operationally fast and compact but with a very high capacity

Bearings are self-clinching and self-aligning
Novel bearings from Spyraflo save machining, material and assembly time; they simplify assembly and their compact design means they take up less space in congested mechanisms.
Equally important was the public locations of such equipment, requiring them to be quiet, they had to be reliable while satisfying the obvious demand that the machine would bring substantial gains in productivity.
The Spyraflo bearing is cost-effective and compact, due to the self- clinching capability, saving on machining and components.
The self-aligning feature of the 6 and 12mm Delrin flange-mount bearings is also useful.
The machine can handle up to 65% of a pharmacy's total prescription volume with a process that selects and labels a vial, then counts, caps and sorts a script by patient last name.
In addition to the wide range of standard flange-mount designs available Spyraflo has produced many special flange design solutions for a wide cross-section of industries and applications.
The designs incorporate various flange materials, flange profiles, mounting variables and positioning features.
