Several powerful features have been incorporated into the latest release of the Micro Planner X-Pert project management software from Micro Planning International (MPI).

For example, Micro Planner X-Pert v2.4.1 (Windows) allows users to create project templates that include a full Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).

This feature, which will save a considerable amount of time when inputting new projects, is particularly useful for projects that have a similar structure or for organisations that have a set way of reporting and a set structure that each project follows.

The latest version of Micro Planner X-Pert also offers a unique option to 'clean up the logic', ie rearrange the network layout, clean up overlapping lines and automatically alter the size of the description field.

This feature is especially valuable when organising project information brought in from other project management systems, such as MPX files from Microsoft Project.

Because imported files can be cleaned up quickly to produce a workable network diagram, users who are stepping up to take advantage of the more sophisticated facilities provided by X-Pert will benefit from substantial reductions in the time taken to carry out analysis and produce results.

Another feature incorporated into Micro Planner X-Pert v2.4.1 (Windows) is the ability to interrogate the list of resources to identify precisely those that are over- or under-used.

Using current resource analysis results or information stored in the interim or master archives, this addition to the list resources dialog will ensure that only the areas where there is scope to increase or reduce resources are highlighted.

Once again, this will save a great deal of time when managing a project and seeing at-a-glance where adjustments could be made and efficiencies achieved will enable resources to be used much more productively.
