Transmitter released in intrinsically safe version

A Michell Instruments product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 11, 2007

Michell Instruments' Easidew TX IS is a low -cost, rugged impedance dew-point transmitter for continuous measurement in industrial gas applications.

Michell Instruments has developed a certified intrinsically safe version of its Easidew Transmitter.

The Easidew TX IS expands the Easidew range dew point instruments, which includes portable and on-line hygrometers, as well as dew point transmitters.

It is a low -cost, rugged impedance dew-point transmitter for continuous measurement in industrial gas applications.

It is ATEX-certified by BASEEFA for use in hazardous areas to Ex II 1G ia IIC T4 when used with a galvanic isolator for signal power supply connections.

It can therefore be safely used in virtually all industrial gas measurement applications.

The certification lists five different galvanic isolators from two different manufacturers.

This allows the customer to choose the most suitable isolator to the correct hazardous/safe area interconnection.

The new transmitter can be connected in a two-wire loop powered or three-wire configuration.

The Easidew TX IS has powerful processing capability allowing on-board calculation of parts per million moisture content, in ranges of 0-100, 0-1000 and 0-3000 parts per million.

Application software also allows the user to configure output parameters, ranges and scaling.

Dew point measurement is made as accessible as temperature and pressure with this fully configured, calibrated transmitter that can be instantly incorporated into an air or gas management and control system.

The key to the device's performance is its sensor technology.

Michell Instruments' Advanced Ceramic Moisture Sensor is coupled with advanced microprocessor-based measurement circuitry to produce a fully calibrated and interchangeable sensor transmitter.

All calibration data is stored within the transmitter's flash memory and so calibration exchange, or service, can be performed in seconds, even by untrained personnel.

The Easidew TX IS is simply disconnected, removed from its sampling block and replaced by a new fully calibrated unit.

Tje transmitter is also economical to purchase, install and operate.

Installation costs are minimal because of the transmitter's ruggedness and simplicity.

On-going operating costs are low because of the transmitter's stability and reliability.

Only periodic re-certification is required to maintain traceability.

Michell will even organise an exchange programme for the customer so that the process is never out of operation.

Applications include CNG dryers, hydrogen coolant in power generators and industrial gas manufacture and supply.
