Mikron's VC 500, 750 and 1000 machining centres will now be provided with Siemens Axis Servomotors providing increased rapid traverse rates, acceleration and axis thrust

Mikron (Birmingham) is delighted to announce major functional enhancements to its already formidable VC machining centre range, providing increased performance and productivity to its customers.

The Mikron VC machines have been designed to provide tool and mould makers, whether working in one-off or batch production mode, with a really cost effective solution across a wide range of traverse sizes.

The VC 500, 750 and 1000 machines will now be provided with Siemens Axis Servomotors providing increased rapid traverse rates, acceleration and axis thrust.

For the VC 500 and 750 machines, the rapid traverse rate has been increased from 24m/min to 30m/min and acceleration has increased from 3.5m/s2 to 6m/s2.

In the case of the VC 1000 the rapid traverse rate has been increased to an outstanding 40m/min, the acceleration rate has been increased from 3.5 to 4.0 m/s2 and for all three machines the axis thrust on the X/Y axes has been boosted from 3.5kN to 9kN and on the Z axis from 10 to 11kN.

In addition, the inclusion of the new spindle motor from Siemens has increased machine power at 44% ED to 16kW and enhanced the torque range to 60-1200rpm.

Taken together these functional enhancements provide a substantial increase in performance across the product range and are sure to provide Mikron customers with major productivity benefits.
