A novel solenoid tongue switch incorporates a side bolt actuator for safety interlocking guards on machines.

Mistura Systems has a novel solenoid tongue switch with a side bolt actuator for safety interlocking guards on machines.

The Mistura Maidstone features a trapped key adapter mounted between the solenoid release and the bolt actuator, allowing only authorised personnel to access the guarded machine.

The Maidstone is manufactured from a durable cast alloy, sealed to IP67, and the side-bolt is a 12mm thick, solid steel bar.

The guard must be fully closed before the side bolt is inserted and trapped, so it is protected from the wear that can occur to tongue actuators due to rough handling or misalignment.

The Maidstone is suitable for all types of hinging or sliding guards where access needs to be controlled by a supervisor.

The bolt is locked in place by the solenoid when it is de-energised and opened when energised, allowing access only when the machine is in a safe condition.

A mechanical key override facility for the solenoid comes as standard.

The Maidstone belongs to a new modular range from Mistura.

The basic unit can be adapted to suit any application, with over 300 versions available in the complete range, including options such as push buttons and padlock fittings.

The Mistura Manchester, for example, features a personnel safety key which when taken inside the guarded area, ensures that operators cannot become trapped inside.
