Motion Control Products has brought out the Smartactuator series from Tolomatic.
This ICR rod-style series of compact 'all-in-one' electric linear actuators (servomotor, drive, controller and actuator integrated into a single unit) is designed to simplify linear motion control for industrial applications.
The Smartactuator series provides 100 per cent (24/7 continuous operation) industrial duty cycle motion control, requiring only a DC power source and motion inputs from the host PLC.
Two versions of the ICR series are available - an ICR Basic package, which mimics pneumatic actuators and requires no programming, and an ICR Plus package, which allows for full programmability (Canopen and RS232).
The actuators will be stroke configurable up to 610mm (or 24in) with the maximum continuous force up to 956N (215lbs-force) and 1780N (400lbs-force) at peak.
With IP rating IP65 (optional) for protection against water and dust ingress, the Smartactuator series devices can be used as a direct replacement for pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders in a variety of low- to medium-force applications such as packaging, material handling, machine tooling and general industrial automation.
