Mountz offers torque and force analyser

A Mountz product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 24, 2008

The Wizard Plus is a PDA torque and force analyser from Mountz that can be used for torque calibration, joint testing, auditing, force and load measurement, or verification of load cells.

The Wizard Plus is CF2 card that plugs into a pocket PC or laptop.

It features the ability for SPC testing and producing ISO calibration certificates.

A Windows interface enables quick set-up of torque testing parameters for hand or power tools.

The readings are displayed along with tool identification and preset information when a load is applied.

The unit combines the torque and force measuring discipline with common PDA applications such as a scientific calculator, an address book and activity planner.

The Wizard Plus can adapt to an assortment of transducers for testing and calibrating hand screwdrivers, wrenches and power tools.

It has a memory capacity six times that of a typical torque and force analyser.

An operator can perform and save test data for tools in a Windows Excel document.

Calibration readings can be stored with a time and date stamp in multiple project folders, with the freedom to organise and retrieve data in a variety of ways.

'Our customer research and discussions led us to design a product that uses a PDA or laptop as a standard user interface for calibration, torque/force auditing or data collection,' said Brad Mountz, president and chief executive officer of Mountz.

'A user may obtain data using one of many torque sensor configurations and use the documented results through a standard program such as Microsoft Excel.

'In addition, we have built in commonly accepted SPC data so the user can witness results graphically through an Excel macro that is embedded in the download program.

'Recently, Nasa has specified the product for calibrations performed at the Internal Space Station.

The graphing capability of the Wizard Plus provides companies with a resource to evaluate and confirm torque specifications in both production and research and development environments.
