Hybrid uses air and electricity to control torque

A Mountz product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 31, 2009

Mountz has introduced the Hybrid HD Series Torque Control System, which uses air and electric power to set and control torque.

The HD's precise pneumatic pressure sensor and algorithm allow for precision digital torque selection.

Torque and parameter settings can be adjusted with one touch on the front panel or through PLC signal.

An accurate brushless DC motor provides repeatable torque control.

The HD Series features digital adjustable torque setting, variable torque and speed control, multiple I/O options for integration with PLC and other line-control techniques.

The product includes a Windows-based software package that can customise each fastening application.

The torque-control system features built-in error-proofing data and screw counter.

Multiple fastening strategies can be implemented for sensitive or difficult assembly joints.

One HD Series can perform the job of multiple conventional tools.

The HD Series features a programmable digital-torque setting with memory for eight pre-set torque settings.

The electric screwdrivers feature a high-performance brushless motor design that provides durability and reduces the standard maintenance costs for electric screwdrivers.

The casing and bit tip of the electric screwdriver prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD).

The controller of the HD Series features a built-in screw counter that prevents screw-fastening errors and detects cross threading, omissions, unfinished rundowns and cycle incompletes.

HD crew counting and error detection verify that all fasteners are installed and are seated to the assigned preset torque setting.
