MK Profile Systems reckons it has introduced a novel material technology to the frame building systems market - wood profiles.

In addition to its extensive aluminium profile system, MK is now offering profiles made from TPF.

This revolutionary new material consists of 85% wood and 15% polypropylene and is therefore totally recyclable.

But reduced environmental impact is not the only advantage claimed for this new technology.

The new profiles have a significantly lower cost when compared with aluminium profiles of the same dimensions.

The slot dimensions for the new profiles are based on the popular MK 40 Series aluminium profiles, popularly used for many industrial and nonindustrial applications.

This common slot geometry means that many of the existing components such as slot nuts, angles, plates and other connecting elements can be used with ease.

Of course, the wood profiles can also be combined with a standard aluminium frame to give a localised change in frame material where necessary.

The new profiles are also considerably lighter than the aluminium versions, and are of course nonmetallic, so therefore can be used in areas where metal parts are discouraged, such as electronic measurement systems, magnetic devices, metal detection and protective packaging.

Assemblies such as machine guards workbenches and shelving can now be quickly and economically designed, built and adapted with very basic tools.

A range of new components has been designed for the wood profiles with shelving specifically in mind.
