Square connector stops profiles turning

A MK Profile Systems product story

MK Profile Systems has introduced a new version of its popular "tension plug" connector.

MK Profile Systems has introduced a new version of its popular "tension plug" connector.

The new connector has a square, rather than round, head, which prevents the connecting profile from rotating under stressful conditions, such as in large door frames or cross members which are exposed to twisting actions.

The MK tension plug is a low cost connector which allows the mating profiles to be easily repositioned once connected.

One other significant benefit of the tension plug over other similar connectors is that it only requires a 10mm diameter hole to be drilled in just one profile.

This means that this machining is a simple drilling operation and can be carried out anywhere with the use of a simple low cost drill jig and a hand drill if necessary, rather than a full machine setup on a drilling machine.

There is also a special version of the new tension plug available which can be used to guarantee conductivity between the two profiles.

In standard form, typical "anchor" type connectors do not bite through the nonconductive anodising on the surface of the aluminium profile.

This can lead to issues with conductivity to earth through the frame for electrical equipment fitted on the frame.

Most profile system suppliers cure this problem by the addition of earthing straps with screw posts, special nuts that bite through the anodising, or special inserts that also break the anodised coating.

The MK version does both jobs in one, both connecting and earthing the frame, thereby saving time and money and keeping a uniform appearance to the frame.

Free samples of the new connector are available and a full catalogue of the MK profile system is also free on application.
