Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 8, 2006

Metalforming Machinery Makers' Association elects Ian Kimberley, Managing Director of Davis (DECADE) in Birmingham, as Vice-Chairman.

At the last council meeting (25th January 2006) of the Metalforming Machinery Makers' Association (MMMA), Ian Kimberley, Managing Director of Davis (Decade) in Birmingham, was elected Vice-Chairman of the association.

Kimberley has over 25 years experience in the metal-forming industry and his company is a designer and manufacturer of process control systems, hardware and software for power press automation and monitoring, machine activity data collection and process testing on assembly and testing machines.

He said: "I have a lot of experience of the metal-forming industry and I am very honoured that my fellow council members have elected me as their Vice Chairman, especially at a time when there is a lot of discussion about manufacturing in the UK".

"We know there has been a decline in manufacturing, especially where high volume production has been transferred to lower labour cost countries such as China".

"My role as Vice Chairman is to support the Chairman, Mike Hall, and to encourage metal-forming machinery suppliers, whether MMMA members or not, that there is a positive future in UK manufacturing".

Hall said: "I have known Ian for a number of years and I know he brings with him an enormous wealth of experience into his new role and I am sure that this will be very beneficial to the MMMA and its members, both now and in the future".

The MMMA acts as the central organisation promoting the common interests of its members involved in the manufacture and sale of metal-forming machinery and ancillary products, including tooling in the UK.
