Experienced systems integrators know that getting the HMI "right" can spell the difference between a successful control system implementation and one that fails.
A good HMI will provide the operator with the "right" information, presented in a clear format and provides exactly the features you need and nothing less.
Matching project needs and required features, yet with a price tag of less than Eur 1000 or GBP 685 for a 10in touchscreen HMI and as low as Eur 270/GBP 184 for a 6in touchscreen model, Maple Systems reckons it sets the mark for cost-effective, and solid, control system design.
Surely any modern HMI needs to meet the general user needs in terms of "easy programming", reliability and feature richness.
However a growing number of HMI suppliers seem to follow a trend of jam-packing the HMI with each and any feature, regardless of relevancy, they can come up with.
The end result being that "easy programming" turns out not to be all that easy and the user, although paying for a feature packed model, actually only uses just those features required for the task at hand.
Understandably the supplier, justifying the product price tag upon the great number (or in most cases; the overkill) of features the unit offers, is happy with this trend.
