Busbars allow combinations of circuit breakers
Moeller Electric has developed a new range of variable commoning busbars, the FAZ/FIP-XVS, aimed at making its range of miniature circuit breakers and accessories much simpler and easier to mount
Moeller Electric, one of the electrical industry's leading suppliers of circuit protection devices, has developed a new range of variable commoning busbars, the FAZ/FIP-XVS, which is specifically aimed at making its range of miniature circuit breakers and accessories much simpler and easier to mount.
The commoning busbars allow users to put together any required combination of FAZ miniature circuit-breakers and FIP residual-current protective circuit-breakers together with a wide range of accessories, such as side-fitted add-on modules (auxiliary contacts, voltage releases, etc.).
These miniature protective devices are housed in enclosures that utilise proven combination box terminals at both sides and as well as the busbars allow wiring to incoming cables of up to 25mm2.
The FAZ/FIP-XVS system is based upon individual fork connectors assigned to a specific phase by their length and angle.
Delivered with springs, engineers simply have to screw these extension terminals to each pole, plug one busbar per phase onto the contact springs, and put the plastic cover on.
Mounting is as easy as that.
Users have the choice of two versions featuring current capacities of 50A and 80A with busbar cross-sections of 16mm2 and 25mm2.
Rated voltage/short-circuit rating is 400V/15kA and 480V/10kA, respectively.
While conventional solutions come in predetermined lengths, the new busbar system - delivered as 1m elements - can easily be cut to individually required lengths for specific applications.
The versatile FAZ/FIP-XVS is also suitable for use as a busbar connection between Moeller's DIL00(A)M contactors, rotary switches, P1/P3 switch-disconnectors and PKZ motor-protective circuit-breakers.
