In recognition of its exemplary safety record, Aylesbury-based Moeller Produktion International (MPI), manufacturer of Barduct busbar systems, has won a prestigious National Safety Award from the British Safety Council Open to enterprises large and small, in both the public and private sectors, MPI was one of only 1,000 companies nationwide to satisfy the tough test set by the British Safety Council's independent awards panel

Commented Steve Richards, MPI's managing director: "This prestigious award is just recognition of the efforts made in health and safety by all of our employees, from the humblest to the highest.
It is the third consecutive year that we have won it and it highlights the company's commitment to provide a safe, secure working environment for its staff.
An award like this makes a significant positive contribution to staff morale, which in turn improves both product quality and profitability." Sir Neville Purvis, KCB, director general of the British Safety Council, added: "The National Safety Awards highlight organisations that reach the top levels of health and safety.
They are a mark of a proven and significant achievement in safety standards.
By making safety an important feature of everyday work practice, MPI is reducing accidents and ill health while improving productivity." Award winners were deemed to have lower than average accident rates, good safety policies and safety plans, and demonstrated a commitment to health and safety at the highest board level.
Companies were required to detail their health and safety officers' qualifications and provide details of two significant advances in health and safety for the year, plus notification of any impending legal action relating to health and safety issues.
Prime Minister Tony Blair also added his congratulations to award winners in a statement saying: "Your efforts and commitment have made a real contribution to the health of your business and the health of your workforce.
I send award winners and the British Safety Council my very best wishes and encouragement to build on your successes.".
