Users of Moeller Electric's popular switch disconnectors will be pleased to learn that hard knockouts have been reintroduced to the insulated enclosed types up to 32A, which now gives them a choice of hard or soft metric knockouts to suit their individual application Made in the UK at the company's Worksop factory, Moeller's range of reliable and robust switch-disconnectors are quick and easy to install

This together with simple selection gives savings on both time and costs.

Meeting standards IEC/EN60-204 and IEC/EN60-947-3, Moeller disconnectors are ideal for a wide range of tasks including mains switches, on/off switches, safety switches and emergency-stop switches.

Current ratings available are 20, 25, 32, 63 and 100A, and power ratings at AC3 400/415V are from 4 to 37kW with all types available as either three- or six-pole variants.

All switches are lockable in the off position using up to three padlocks.

These enclosed switches use the new CI-K insulated enclosures, which are made from self-extinguishing halogen-free glass-fibre, reinforced polycarbonate providing a high level of robustness and superb chemical resistance.

The enclosures are corrosion proof and with a high protection standard of IP65 they are ideal for use in most environments including the food industry.

Total insulation ensures optimum protection for the user and sealed lugs can be used to protect the switches against unauthorised opening.

Originally the 20-32A switch-disconnectors housed in the two smaller CI-K enclosures were available only with the unique push-through cable entry membranes (soft knockouts) and the enclosures for 63-100A switches had hard knockouts.

Now the customer has a choice of enclosure with hard or soft knockouts for the 20-32A ratings.

In addition to these options, Moeller has also introduced hard plastic 'plugs' for use with the soft-knockout enclosures.

These blanking plugs can be fitted above the soft membranes and are flush with the enclosure case, preventing fingers, screwdrivers and the like from being inserted into the enclosure via unused cable entry knockouts.

The plugs provide a tight seal, maintaining the enclosure's IP65 rating, and once fitted they cannot be removed from the outside - they can only be 'pushed out' from within.

The CI-K enclosures have many features that make installation easy.

Included amongst these are metric cable entry knockouts in the top, bottom and in the base, holes for fixing to the wall vertically or horizontally, base fixing centres printed on base, and rubber feet on the base (20, 25 and 32A versions) to compensate for wall unevenness.

A novel design feature is the inclusion of moulded eyelets on the base and cover of the enclosure.

Passing tie wraps through these eyelets effectively forms a temporary hinge for the cover allowing maintenance engineers access to the switch while keeping the cover firmly attached to the base.

In addition to the insulated enclosures, both three- and six-pole variants can be supplied in steel or stainless-steel enclosures.
