New from Moeller Electric is the KLAS range of network-controllable motor starters It brings to the engineer the advantages of networking direct-on-line and reversing motor starters, while eliminating the need for cable terminations, thus significantly reducing installation time and cost

The KLAS motor starter system is simply networked via the actuator/sensor interface bus (AS-I).

Other sensors and actuators located near the KLAS unit can be connected via the optional M12 input/output socket, eliminating the need for an additional I/O slave module.

The new motor starter is available as an open module or enclosed unit.

As an open module for control panels, it is supplied fully fitted and pre-wired, suitable for motors rated up to 7.5kW at 400 to 415V AC.

Enclosed KLAS motor starters are designed for local control of devices such as conveyor belts with small spatially distributed drives.

The units' power bus concept brings about a drastic reduction in power supply cabling and consequently cabling space in the control panel.

And, as power transmission takes place within the bus connectors, individual starters can be exchanged without interruption to those downstream.

The enclosed motor starters are available in two sizes of housing and designed for three phase loads up to a power of 5.5kW at 400 to 415V AC.

Built to IP65, the enclosed KLAS modules are able to operate in the harshest of industrial environments.

KLAS is designed to be integrated with Moeller's DIL M contactors and PKZM circuit breakers, together offering an advanced tailor-made switchgear assembly to satisfy a wide range of motor starter requirements.

It brings a high level of operational safety.

Easy to maintain with precise diagnostics and short downtimes, the modular design means that it can be easily expanded to meet any future requirements.
