Intelligent signalling and control
The new MFD-Titan offers a unique solution to many control and display applications.
Combining the ergonomic design of the RMQ-Titan signalling devices with the intelligence and simplicity of the Easy control relay, the new MFD-Titan from Moeller offers a unique solution to many control and display applications.
Based on Moeller's Easy 800 intelligent control relay, the MFD-Titan offers a 60 x 30mm LCD mounted in an IP65 housing, designed to match the styling of the RMQ-Titan control and signalling devices.
The display, which is backlit, offers good visibility in poor lighting conditions.
It may be configured to show four lines, each of 16 characters, for diagnostic messages for example, or a single, four-digit numeric display, ideal for showing temperature or speed.
An optional keypad enables control functions to be implemented or set point values to be entered directly into the device.
Two LEDs on the front of the unit can also be illuminated or flashed to attract attention or indicate machine status.
Mounting of the MFD simply requires two 22.5mm holes to be punched in the enclosure door, saving time, tooling and hassle when installing the device.
This twin-hole method also creates an antirotation fixture, ensuring the IP rating is maintained.
The logic module and I/O unit simply clip to the rear of the display unit.
By means of a short DIN rail, expansion units or communication modules, such as Profibus DP, may also be attached using the standard Easy connection.
A major advantage of the MFD is in the configuration.
Easy-Soft is more of a drawing tool than a programming device.
Control circuits may be copied directly from an electrical diagram onto the screen using a drag and drop editor.
Once completed, control schemes may be tested off the machine using the in-built simulation software.
This enables the functionality of the machine to be proven before completion, reducing overall production and machine commissioning times.
Configuration of the display is similarly very straightforward.
The editing tool offers the user a "blank sheet" corresponding to the size of the display window.
Objects can then be simply placed onto the screen where required and their function configured by filling in simple drop-down boxes.
Pictures in bitmap format, fixed or variable text messages, numeric value display, set point entry, date and time can all be entered, with many functions available as standard to display on the MFD.
A button-editing tool allows the user to customise any of the button functions on the front of the MFD.
Mask change, password and value entry/increment/decrement are all available as standard button functions.
The MFD offers a unique combination of machine interface and powerful control functionality with the added benefits of modern styling and practical design.
