The M22-ESA fingerprint reader from Moeller Electric provides a simple and cost-effective way of implementing security measures, such as preventing the unauthorised use of machinery.

The new M22-ESA fingerprint reader from Moeller Electric provides a simple, cost-effective and dependable way of implementing security measures such as building access control and preventing the unauthorised use of machinery Compact and easy to install, the new reader can store fingerprint data for up to 100 users, and is equally at home in commercial and industrial environments

The use of thermal line sensor technology means that the M22-ESA provides a high level of security while remaining easy to operate.

Users simply drag a fingertip slowly over the sensor which generates a unique code based on the temperature differences between the ridges and grooves of their fingerprint pattern.

This reader then compares this code with the stored fingerprint data.

It illuminates a green confirmation LED and produces an output signal only if an exact match is found.

In contrast with other security systems, Moeller's system does not require any costly, easily lost, ID cards or passes, or rely on users remembering passwords or PINs.

With an attractive yet robust fascia, which measures just 65 x 50 x 16mm, and a back-of-panel control section which is little larger, the M22-ESA requires only two standard 22.5mm circular holes for installation.

It operates from a 24V DC supply and provides one set of volt-free changeover contacts to indicate when a fingerprint is positively identified.

The storage of new fingerprints is carried out with the aid of a portable Moeller Electric MFD-Titan programming unit, which simply plugs into the reader.

When the process is complete, the MFD-Titan can be unplugged and used to program other readers.

This arrangement not only reduces costs, but also increases security, as the data stored in the reader cannot be modified unless an MFD-Titan is connected.

When properly installed, the fascia of Moeller Electric's M22-ESA fingerprint reader has an IP65 ingress protection rating, making it suitable for applications in even the most demanding of environments.

Its operating temperature range is 0C to 60C, and it can be used over a relative humidity range of 5% to 95% (non-condensing).
