ATEX-compliant enclosed versions of Moeller Electric's popular type T rotary switches and type P switch disconnectors are now available.

ATEX-compliant enclosed versions of Moeller Electric's popular type T rotary switches and type P switch disconnectors are now available, making these compact yet robust products a convenient and cost-effective choice for applications in hazardous areas where there is a risk of explosive dust being present.

These include mills, metal grinding plants, wood processing, cement factories, grain storage, food processing and the pharmaceutical industry.

Type T switches, which use cam-type switching elements, are available in ATEX versions with ratings from 32A to 100A, whereas ATEX type P switch disconnectors, which have direct-driven contacts, cover the range 25A to 100A.

All types and ratings are approved for use in dust areas, zone 22, category 3, and all are approved for device group II, which covers all applications except those associated with mining.

The new ATEX switches from Moeller Electric are equally suitable for use as on/off, manual override or safety switches, and the type P versions, when fitted with a suitable operator, can be used to provide an emergency stop function as well as isolation.

The switches are supplied fitted in durable, impact-resistant two-part enclosures which have an IP65 ingress protection rating.

A wide range of operators is available, including types with provision for fitting up to three padlocks to secure them in the off position, so that maintenance and repair work on the isolated equipment can be carried out in complete safety.

Moeller Electric also offers enclosed and nonenclosed non-ATEX versions of its type T rotary switches and type P switch disconnectors, both with thermal ratings up to 315A.

The versatile type T switches can be supplied in numerous configurations, including types for meter switching and hand-off-auto selection.
