Panel boards take on industrial applications

A Moeller Electric product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 21, 2006

New Mini Panel Boards can accommodate incoming MCCBs or switch disconnectors rated from 160 to 400A making them suitable for use in a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.

With fully rated 400A pan assemblies and the unique ability to accommodate outgoing MCBs rated at up to 125A, Moeller Electric's new and innovative range of Mini Panel Boards makes it unnecessary, in many applications, to use MCCB distribution boards, thereby cutting costs - and space requirements - by up to 50%.

Traditionally, MCB panel boards have had a maximum rating of 63A for outgoing circuits but, with today's increasing demand for electrical power, particularly in commercial applications, this is often insufficient.

In the past, the only solution was to use a distribution system based on moulded case circuit breakers (MCCBs), but these systems are substantially larger and more expensive than MCB panel boards.

Now Moeller's new Mini Panel Boards provide a convenient, compact and exceptionally cost-effective alternative.

Supplied in three-phase versions with four, eight, 12 or 16 outgoing ways, Mini Panel Boards feature fully removable pan assemblies to aid fast, easy assembly and wiring.

They can accommodate incoming MCCBs or switch disconnectors rated from 160 to 400A making them suitable for use in a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.

Outgoing MCCBs for use with Mini Panel Boards are available in single-, two- and three-pole versions, with ratings from 20 to 125A.

These devices are offered with Type B, C and D trip characteristics, and with breaking capacities of 15 or 25kA.

Moeller's Mini Panel Boards feature robust sheet steel enclosures with a hinged front door, and removable gland plates.

Optional accessories include a spreader box to facilitate connection of larger cables, glazed doors to allow instant visual inspection of breaker status, and a modular service box which can be used to house automation, control and metering devices.
