Power transmission specialist Motovario, one of the largest gear unit manufacturers in Europe, has extended production to include AC motors for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Leading power transmission specialist Motovario, one of the largest gear unit manufacturers in Europe, has extended production to include AC motors for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The company now manufactures its own range of motors instead of purchasing their requirements from several different sources, including European brand names.
Motovario now has a full production of AC motors including standard three phase and single phase with all options for different voltages and features such as brake versions.
This includes not just flange mounted motors to make geared motor assemblies but also B3 foot mounted motors for such applications as the heat and ventilation industry.
With the increase in production Motovario now manufactures more motors than the majority of sole motor manufacturers in Europe.
Motovario has had particular success with custom-made products.
One is a fan motor with custom-made output shaft, which needed to have torque characteristics to withstand high ambient temperatures.
The motor performance was met and included features such as special lubrication of the bearings for the high temperature and machining tolerances to suit the expansion.
Another custom-made product provides a single-phase motor for car park barrier applications where balance windings are required to ensure smooth operation in both directions.
The overhauling load is developed by the barrier application and there is increased starting torque requirements with the high number of stops and starts.
Said Steve Horsfall, Managing Director of Motovario Ltd, based in Rushock, near Droitwich: "For original equipment manufacturers we can design motors to meet specific requirements.
We do have within the company technical ability and we are engineers which is different from a lot of other UK suppliers.
With Motovario manufacturing motors it does mean that we can do it more competitively and it gives us the edge to supply original equipment manufacturers.
Stocks are being carried of standard options for both flange and foot mounted versions.
Manufacturing has been built up over the last 18 months and the motors are now ready to be taken to the market.

All models conform to the latest European standards for both electrical and mechanical performance: Frame size from 56 to 132; Standard and special voltages available; IP protection up to IP65; Powers from 0.06kW * 1 phase and 3 phase versions * Braked motors* Custom features available.
