A new range of stepper-motor position controllers are claimed to drive two-phase stepping motors as smoothly as servos.

A new range of stepper-motor position controllers are claimed to drive two-phase stepping motors as smoothly as servos.

The SERS units from Motor Technology consist of a power amplifier and an additional position control board.

The position controller can be programmed via the RS232C/V24 (standard PC-COM interface) or an optional RS485 interface.

The SERS guarantees excellent true running due to its micro stepping operation at 12,800step/rev and the facility to configure the current characteristics for the stepper motor.

The standard version can be operated via serial comms, in a master/slave configuration, via IO lines from a PLC or as a stand-alone module.
