Motiva, a leader in collaborative design change management solutions for e-business, reports that FG Wilson (Engineering) Limited, a Caterpillar company, has successfully implemented Motiva eChange Solutions This system manages and automates collaboration between worldwide design teams, customers and supply chain partners
FG Wilson, the largest diesel generating set manufacturer in Europe and the third largest in the world, has already achieved savings of 50 percent in the time it takes to authorize an engineering change.
Using eChange Solutions, FG Wilson reduced in-field changes through better in-plant processes, empowered decision-making and increased accountability, established strong external communications, and supported multiple manufacturing sites and international users.
With more than 30,000 generators shipped annually and a 10 percent year-on-year growth in business, FG Wilson needed a way to enhance product design quality while increasing the speed and integrity of design change.
The company implemented Motiva eChange Solutions in December of 1999 and measured its performance against corporate time-to-market goals.
"We are thrilled with eChange Solutions and the savings the product provides," said Andy Cree, Senior Electrical Design Engineer for FG Wilson.
"We have great plans for further implementation as part of our long term product lifecycle management strategy.
We plan to deploy it in other facilities and enable field sales people, subcontractors and customers to participate in our change processes." "eChange Solutions are ideally suited for multi-site, enterprise deployment," said Michael Haviken, Motiva's COO.
"We are delighted to help this important customer meet its faster-to-market objectives and look forward to extending the benefits of collaborative design change management across FG Wilson's extended enterprise."
