Moss Plastic Parts has launched no less than 1,316 new products, which substantially expands its range of standard parts for engineering applications

Moss Plastic Parts has launched no less than 1,316 new products, suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

The move substantially expands its range of standard parts for engineering applications.

The new move is part of a major on-going investment by Moss in better customer service, product development and customer care which will mean a total investment in excess of £11 million over the next few years.

Key among the new products is a highly extended range of general protection products suitable for the automotive, petrochemical, oil and gas, hydraulics, plumbing, building and construction industries, and many other key markets.

These include Spiral Guard, which is suitable for the protection of most hydraulic, pneumatic, automotive and industrial hose assemblies across a wide range of industries.

It is a solution offering exceptional anti-crushing performance, high abrasion and UV resistance and ease of fitment.

It will provide high reliability and performance comfortably within a temperature range of -65C to 90C continuous, and 100C intermittently.

Thirteen new sizes are now available in the Spiral Guard range for wrapping singular or multiple hoses from 9-200mm.

Four new banjo bolt caps - a protection cap and retaining washer in one - are now also available, in sizes from M8-M14, to hold everything together during product assembly, storage and shipment, with full protection against dirt ingress and damage en route.

Other new products include: * More than 30 new non-threaded end-caps in Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), ideal for the protection of threaded or non-threaded tubing, pipes and rods.

* 24 new driveshaft protection caps for cylindrical driveshafts with fitting key.

Resistant to tearing, splitting, oil and most chemicals, these new caps feature 'easy-pull' designs for simple removal and are suitable for driveshafts to DIN 748, IEC 600-72 and ISO R775.

* Eight new SAE butt weld covers to protect split-flange coupling surfaces, with a transparent design allowing the O-ring to remain visible while providing secure protection via an internal locking bead.

* An extended range of Moss TPR Pull Plugs (10 different variants of dimension and thread size) including the addition of a new lateral pull tab version, all of which are ideal for components protection in hydraulics and general engineering applications.

Manufactured in thermoplastic rubber, the plugs feature handy pull-out tabs, with central- and new lateral-pull designs for easy removal, are acid resistant, and offer continuous temperature resistance between -40C and +135C (+135C and +150C for short periods).

* 8 new sizes of barrel plugs (fitting on M14 - 2" BSP aperture) and new sizes of dual-purpose tapered caps/plugs (2.9 - 304.2mm), both types available in low-cost LDPE for excellent protection from damage, dirt, moisture and corrosion during product storage or transportation.

* Flexicaps, in flexible, durable PVC, which offer full product protection across a range of applications, are now available in five new diameters, with three different standard lengths for each new size (15 new products in total), while pull-tab flexicaps offer 10 new product additions.

* Specifically for the LPG market, four new caps/plugs have also been developed, offering product protection to LP Gas Association Code of Practice 15: Part 2 standards, to prevent dangerous gas leaks during storage and transportation.

Each cap/plug - whether for propane, butane or various applications - is strapped to prevent loss and independently tested to 26 bar pressure to provide a tight seal even under extreme temperatures and adverse conditions.

* A further six new gas cylinder valve protectors are also available, all of which have been developed in conjunction with major European gas companies, to protect industrial gas cylinders from the ingress of dirt and dust.

Tamper-evident, each also features a unique vent flap for the safe release of gas following any accidental valve opening.

* Finally, in the General Protection range, new edge and corner protectors are now also available, bringing the total application range up to five product types (49 different size and range variants), suitable for palletised goods, irregular items and a wide variety of sizes and types of webbing and strapping.

These new protection products join an extensive family of Moss products for industry, which also includes temperature-resistant masking tapes in polyester, polyamide substrate, paper, glass cloth, foil and silicone rubber, for full temperature protection from ambient to 300C in powder coating, enamelling, paint spraying, plating and anodising applications; and almost 200 different nylon products, including bolts, screws (slotted pan head, slotted cheese head and slotted countersunk)and washer, hexagonal, dome and wing nuts, for insulation against moisture and electricity, along with resistance to corrosion, abrasion, vibration, toxicity, magnetic discharge and most chemicals, for high performance reliability.

All Moss products are manufactured to stringent quality standards on the latest moulding equipment and combine functional design with strength and durability inhigh-impact resistant, yet lightweight, materials which ensure that they will withstand the most arduous industrial use.

Moss has also recently invested some ?1.5 million in new state-of-the-art injection moulding machines, enabling it to react much faster to customer needs by increasing production, ensuring quicker tool change, and responding more effectively to changes in demand.

These new machines substantially improve product quality and machine reliability and bring the total number of Moss moulding machines to more than 300, making it the biggest injection moulding plant in Europe.

Customers will now benefit from increased production capability and even more products readily available from stock.
