The new DPS/MPS power connectors from Molex meet the Server System Infrastructure (SSI) open specifications for backplanes.

The SSI specification includes backplane distributed power systems (DPS), that use two power blades and mid-range chassis power systems (MPS), that feature eleven power blades.

Applications for Molex's DPS/MPS connector range include servers, RAIDs, switches, hubs and routers.

The new power connectors have last-mate-first-break recessed pins, that facilitate sequential mating.

This allows hot-swapping of server power supply units.

The headers have new mixed-layout blade-type contacts that can handle up to 30 amps of current.

The shrouded design of the headers protects the metal contacts against physical damage during mating and unmating.

The receptacles, with guide posts at each end are designed to give low insertion forces and facilitate easy blind mating.

The connector housings are made using a high temperature thermoplastic material to ensure good thermal reliability.

more The Molex DPS/ MPS connector range includes through-hole right angle headers and receptacles and through-hole vertical receptacles.

Vertical receptacles in press-fit designs are also available as an option.
